Project Breach
Project Breach is a Half-Life 2 modification which shifts the focus of typical first-person shooter games into a more strategic sector. In Project Breach, team members construct bases using the defense builder. These defenses are put to the test as the opposing team attempts to invade and accomplish their mission. While traditional first-person shooters deal primarily with total kills, we found that by adding this extra element of fortifying a base adds a challenge and spices up the ever popular genre.
Project Breach was the capstone project that Brandon Stewart and I worked on during our senior year at Marshall University. We chose to work on a gaming project since we both are avid gamers and thought it would be interesting to dabble in the industry. While Brandon's concentration was on the server-side and defense management, I focused on the user interface that would link the player and the backend to allow for the building of defensive structures. There was a lot of planning and collaboration to ensure that both component s could work seamlessly together.
